Brittany Smith: Missing girl from Virginia

Brittany Mae Smith

I was a little disturbed when I read the article about the missing girl from Virginia, Brittany Smith.  She is twelve years old, and she has been missing since Friday.  Her mother, Tina Smith, was found dead in their home.  Police are saying it is possibly a homocide.  Obviously it is a homocide! Apparently Brittany and the alleged kidnapper/murderer, Jeff Easly have been talking on the internet since the summer.  What's really disturbing is that Jeff is a family friend and moved into their home in October once he was divorced.  Police say that Brittany is in extreme danger.  Brittany and him were last seen at a Walmart and Jeff used Tina's credit card.  It scares me to think that people, like Jeff, are out there in the world.  Police are still working on this case.  I can only pray that they find this girl safe and bring her home.

If you see this man, please contact police immediately!

Kate Plus 8 is on the Sarah Plalin show? What has the world come to?

Camping Trip? So we thought...

While going to check my mail on AOL, I found myself getting sidetracked when I saw an article titled, Sarah Palin Goes Camping with Kate Plus 8 Gosselin Kids.  I had to check it out because I could not stop laughing.  Apparently, Sarah Palin, along with her daughters Piper and Willow and even her husband Todd, join the Gosselin gang for a nice little camping trip into the Alaskan wilderness.  Apparently, Kate says that during this trip her and Sarah bonded while talking about the media and how cruel it is.  Sarah really enjoys their trip and is miss-outdoors whereas Kate apparently sat under a tarp being miserable the whole time.  According to Fancast.com, Kate says,  “It just kills me that people, like, willingly do this."  With that said, Kate and her kids were not even there for a night, because Kate apparently could not handle the outdoors.  So she took her kids and left.  “I don’t see a table, I don’t see utensils, I don’t see hand-cleansing materials,” she whimpers. “This is not ideal conditions. I am freezing to the bone, I have 19 layers on, my hands are frigid. I held it together as long as I could and I’m done now!”  I don't know about anyone else, but I kind of want to see this episode which airs on TLC, Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.
Some people just can't handle the outdoors...poor Kate

Keene State College is allowing co-ed rooming next year!

Keene State College: Residential Life

My really good friend is an RA here at the lovely Keene State College, and the other day, when we were at lunch, she was super excited to tell me that Keene is allowing co-ed rooming next year.  She is really excited about this because she feels it would be a good experience for the students.  But, I am not sure that this is such a good idea.  Becuase, I feel that a lot of people who are in relationships will want to live together and then down the road they'll break up and it will not be too pretty.  But, I think that it is cool that KSC is allowing this because it is not very common among many schools.  I warn the residential life office though to be prepared to make a lot of room changes!
And also be prepared to see this in the future....

GOOD LUCK!

Salvation Army: Not as generous as you thought...

Salvation Army - Where does the money go?

I was with my brother this weekend and we drove past a Stop N' Shop in Rhode Island and we saw a man dressed as Santa collecting donations for the Salvation Army.  My brother immediately said, "Monique, do not give money to the Salvation Army." I was kind of surprised, because my brother is one of the most genuinely nicest person I know.  I asked him why, and to my surprise he said that the Salvation Army gives the money that they collect to anti-gay support groups.  Are you serious? That is so wrong I STILL can't believe it! Because the Salvation Army is a Christian charity, they believe that to be gay is a sin.  By hearing this, I regret ever putting any money into those red kettles! My brother is gay and to think that people discriminate against him because of his sexual preference is terrible.  So, please think twice about giving the Salvation Army any donations, because honestly, the money is not going where you thought it was going.

Check it out!

There is NO crying here! Just tears of laughter...

The Onion at Keene State College

This Thursday in the Mable Brown room at Keene State College, my classmates and I attended a show called the Onion.  Honestly, I had no idea what this was about, let alone what the Onion was.  As I sat waiting for the show to begin, my fellow classmate, Chelsea, gave me a little insight into what the Onion was.  The Onion is an online news source that portrays the news in a humeristic way.  Knowing this, I was able to grasp an idea as to what I was about to watch.  Two employees of the Onion opened up with a slide show showing some of the articles they wrote.  I want to be there friends.  I thought they were hilarious and witty with everything they were saying.

One article they wrote was titled, A Black Man Gets the Worst Job in the Nation.  Speaking obviously about President Obama, I nearly lost it... I thought that was the funniest thing in the world!  Though they didn't speak much, nor get into much detail about their articles, I found myslef going to their website as soon as I got back to my house.  Their articles are informative, but in a way that expresses how they percieve it.  I barely watch or read about what's going on in the world because it's boring and depressing.  So, when reading the articles on the Onion, I become informed, but I also get a big kick out of it because some of the stuff is just hilarious and ridiculous.  It really makes you think just how stupid our country is.  Overall, the Onion is great! Everyone should go check it out!  http://www.theonion.com/  IT's HILARIOUS!

Watch this video-so funny
